I’ll bet many of you do, and I’d like to hear them. I’m putting my fat cat stories in the Quincy books, but invite you to post yours here!
If you’d like, please post a story of 100 words or less about your fat cat or someone else’s, or even a fat cat story you’ve heard somewhere. I’ll pick one of the posters—somehow. If one of the stories is a standout, I’ll pick that one. If they’re all good, I’ll pick a random number.
Then I’ll mail you a paperback copy of FAT CAT AT LARGE as soon as I get them. Publication date is September 2nd. I got one copy in the mail today from my editor and I’m very excited about this!
Picture is Marilyn Levinson's Sammy, not fat, but cute
I love cats of all shapes and sizes, but unfortunately I don't have a fat cat story to share. I've pre-ordered Fat Cat At Large and can't wait till its release!
ReplyDeleteI have four cats, but only one is fat. He is all black with no tail, and his name is Salem. He weighs close to 20 pounds. He is my little shadow, he follows me everywhere. He fetches also, he will fetch anything, but his favorite are those tiny little fur mice. He can also jump very high, especially if I am dangling his mouse in front of him. So that's my short story of my fat cat named Salem. :-)
ReplyDeleteStinky Gets It All
ReplyDeleteI am sitting on my pillow (my person thinks it is hers) watching my inferiors. I must get Stick to discipline her son, Man Cat. He is being obnoxious again. I can’t imagine why Snap is so well behaved, given she is a Stick offspring as well.
Bring me my bowl.
William Shakespeare is one of the cats given to me by a customer. Last fall, the people next door moved and left all their cats behind. There were three adult cats and five kittens. The adult cats took off. Within week, one of the kittens was hit in the road. William brought one of the kittens into our home. The next day, he brought another. He did that until all four kittens were inside. So, we had them fixed and there are now seven cats in my clowder. The two older female cats, Meshuganeh and Tootsie aren't certain what to make of these little ones even after eight months.
ReplyDeleteI do not look like a fat cat, I am a mighty cat.I may be small, but I am compact, weighing in at around 11 pounds. I fool people by my size and my name. I am a female named George. I have no idea what my human was thinking when she named me although she blathered a lot of words at me about my name
ReplyDeleteWhen I adopted my cat he was named Gordo (Spanish for "fat") because he was 23 pounds of love. That wasn't a nice name so I rechristened him Snuggles because in the morning he'd lay on my chest while I was still in bed and snuggle. He was loving and smart--I taught him how to "shake hands." He was a fantastic mouser and for his size he would run fast when chasing his prey. Unfortunately, he got sick, lost weight and got weak. I had to bid him good-bye. But while he was alive he was a fantastic cat--not fat, just big furred.
ReplyDeleteOoops, sorry if my previous post ran long. I didn't notice the word limit.
ReplyDelete5 words over. I can take off the last 5. :)
ReplyDeleteI rescued a 12 year old 14 lb cat from the shelter. Her name was Tammy but I didnt like that name so I changed it to Sammy Samantha. I've had her for 2 years and she is the best snuggler ever !!!! I am soooo glad I rescued her. It seems at times that she rescued me more !
ReplyDeleteThe multicolored cat sat in front of the door mewing as I was trying to let myself in.
ReplyDeleteI finally gave.
After she moved in, coming home from work was blissful. I’d sit in the rocking chair and she’d jump in my lap starting to knead my thighs and purr.
One morning when I woke up she was under my blanket, right by my thigh, purring. I lifted the blanket and there they were: four little kittens and the sheet all mucked up.
One evening she went out through the small window in our kitchen and was never seen again.
Margo and Christine, you've each won a book! Please email me at janetcantrell01@gmail.com and give me your address and I'll get the books out.
ReplyDeleteThanks, all, for the great posts.
